Around Shanghai: Public defibrillators, supermarket confusion, later marriages and free entry to museums!

• Shanghai doctors are urging the government to install defibrillators in public venues so as to provide people with emergency treatment if they suffer sudden cardiac arrest. The installation of defibrillators in busy high-traffic public areas such as airports has already been practiced in some western countries but for now, the only place in China where public defibrillators have been installed is Beijing.
• Authorities in Hongkou district are asking two Shiji Hualian supermarkets to have their signages changed as consumers have complained of confusion with the Shiji Lianhua or Shanghai Hualian supermarkets. What will remain of Shiji Hualian's other 100-odd stores in the city remains unclear.
• Young people in Shanghai are getting married at a later age. In 2007, the average age for a first marriage in Shanghai went up to 28.64 for males and 26.43 for females.
• The government is starting out a trial to offer free entry sometime next month for four museums and memorial sites, so if you haven't been to any of these, this is the best time to check it out! The venues are: the Shanghai Museum, the Memorial Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Luxun Museum and the Former Residence of Chen Yun
