China goes to war and other weather related news

war%20against%20snow%20havoc.jpgEarlier this week the heat in our bedroom pooped out. The weather on Friday hit a promising 18 degrees and we thought our prayers had been answered, but no such luck. Xinhua has put much of China back on a code red weather alert and it looks like we're head right back to highs in the single digits.

Anhui and Jiangsu in east China, Hubei and Henan in central China and Shanxi and Shaanxi in mid-west China will experience snow or sleet, while blizzards could hit the northwest part of Hubei, said the NMC.

The north, northwest and northeast will see winds ranging from 20 to 50 kilometers per hour in the next three days while temperatures in east and central China will drop by up to eight degrees.

Crap, right? It looks like we're going miss the blizzard, but the country looks like it's going to take another hit in a winter that has already cost 129 lives and a 150 billion yuan to date.

But there is a silver lining on these storm clouds. China has followed the USA's lead by declaring war an inanimate object and/or abstract concept (see: drugs, terrorism, and Christmas). Keep posted for more updates in Xinhua's ongoing coverage of 'China's War on Snow Havoc.' We sincerely hope this is in no way related to China's ongoing attempts to control the weather, because then it stops being a war, gets downgraded to scandal, and becomes 'snow-gate' in media speak.
