Agreed. I was most upset with the way the US killed 1/4th of the population of Iraq, permanently annexed it, forced the political/religious leaders into exile, arrested all critics, and censored protests related to the new 51st state. Now the US is just siphoning off all the resources, and importing US citizens while Iraqis become 2nd class citizens in their own country. It's lucky we're in China and can talk about these things freely.

What you are referring to is the US administration who invaded the country because they could allegedly hit us with missiles at whim ...and when that was found to be untrue, changed their tune mid-way to 'freeing iraq from tyranny' ... pathetically trying to get around their own oft-quoted 'standards' set out at Nuremburg. That is, an aggressive invasion of a sovereign nation being the 'ulitmate' war crime. What do you want to do next? "Free Palestine!" "Free Wales!"

I'm sure the situation must be very frustrating for the Ministry of Culture with Chinese Characteristics. Performing artists are so unpredictable. Even if they vetted every recording Bjork has ever made, they wouldn't have found anything objectionable, but here she goes in a live setting suddenly committing one of the Big No-No's. I'm anticipating the Ministry will be hiring extra staff to do internet news searches for everyone applying for an entrance visa as a performer to see if they've ever been caught saying anything about Tibet, Taiwan, Xinjiang, or any of the other taboo subjects. They could also station sharp-eared monitors at the sound board with a switch to kill the PA should a performer venture outside approved boundaries. Of course, they need to balance this against the negative publicity they would get from shutting down a show...

I'm sure she's rich enough that whatever she earned in China is insignificant to her . . . likely she came here for the experience, maybe even the chance to snub the goons in charge around here. Funny thing...I was in some remote villages in Qinghai a few weeks ago visiting some Tibetan Monasteries. There were Dhali Lama pictures everywhere while the monks and local Tibetans talked openly about Free Tibet....the day after I left some very peaceful Tibetan monks were beaten by the Chinese police......no wonder many of them hate Chinese
