Andrew James Art: "13 of Blondes" Opening Reception

Quality and beauty are the two features Andrew James looks out for when he sources for contemporary art. This was what he liked about Dorothy M. Yoon's works when he first came upon them at a London art fair. Last Saturday's opening reception for Dorothy's first solo exhibition in China attracted a good number of people, presumably intrigued by the bizarre portraits of Asian females in all kinds of blonde wigs imaginable. While surreal images of pallid-faced beauties may not appeal to every art buyer's taste, seasoned portrait collectors should figure if they like this series fast since the large group portraits come only in editions of 3.

Andrew James Art is located in a lovely old mansion within walking distance from both Nanjing Xi Lu and Shaanxi Nan Lu metro stations, which means no excuse for not stopping by to say hi to owners Andrew James and Wang Jing if you are dining at Julu Lu or shopping at Xinle Lu. They are really friendly so we're sure they'll be more than happy to answer your pressing art queries or tell you more about their upcoming exhibitions.

Im sure the artist is great, but the photographer is terrible. Was the photog trying to capture the artistic essence of the floor? And if I wanted to see a bunch of legs I'd crawl around the subway on my hands and knees

Well, I took those photos because I thought it might be cool to see from another perspective the kind of people who came to the opening - their clothes, their footwear, how they were standing, etc. (also without passing judgment on their looks).

You must have been physically abused by feet or legs (or both) as a child to have sounded so angsty. Well try crawling around during peak hour subway.

jesus man, don't get too fired up over a sub-par slide show.
I'm the guy in the 6th pic shaking the girls hand. He caught me with my face contorting like an olympic power lifter. For the record I would've much rather seen more hard wood flooring than that pic of me.

Sorry, I typed that out as Wee Ling Soh's rebuttal was being posted, it's kind of out of context now. I'm un-photogenic at the best of times.

Nothing against wooden floors, or contorting faces, just thought it might be nice to see more of the art show that the post was about. No need to bring chld abuse into the context

comradekamal: I guess the best thing would be to go see the exhibition. It lasts through Apr 6 so there's still plenty of time. Cheers.
