Bjork on her calls for Tibetan independence: "I whispered it"

Recent events in the Western provinces make Bjork's little indiscretion in Shanghai look like a storm in a teacup. However, she speaks, we report and in an interview for the New Statesman magazine, (previewed on TheLipster.com) Bjork had this to say about her pronouncement during "Declare Independence":

"When I said "Tibet, Tibet", I whispered it three times. There was no fuss in the room. It happened afterwards on websites."

The lesson here perhaps is that in a world of cellphone cameras, YouTube, and blogs covering every possible angle that there's no such thing as a "whisper" in front of 10,000 people (see it for yourself).

She goes on to say:

"China has become the next superpower in the world. And the issue is: how are they going to deal with Western moral issues like freedom of speech?"

The immediate answer we now know is: by tightening their grip on visiting musicians, and probably no free tickets to the Olympics in Gudmundsdottir mailbox.

if She sings in London, *whisper* about 'Free North Ireland', that must be very interesting.

Bamboos, Bjork would have no problem doing that, I'm sure, and though a few people might bitch a little the government wouldn't pitch a hissy fit and try to regulate what visiting artists said or did. You want a decent analogy, look at how the Dixie Chicks' (from Texas) condemnation of George Bush and the Iraq War played out in the US. Private citizens who didn't like it stated so very loudly and clearly, while others who supported their anti-war stance also spoke their pieces. The media covered both sides, the government staid out of it, and it contributed to the overall public debate on the question of the war and its justification (or, lack thereof). Nothing like this can happen in China today. Why? You tell me. I want to hear it from a Chinese citizen. Tell me. What's the government so scared of? And if you support the government's position, what are *you* so scared of?

she is a big bitch, as i said before. Clean her own pussy

I'm not sure what the expression "clean her own pussy" means in this context, but I like it!

I agree- "Clean her own pussy" is a fantastic insult.

It reminds me of "Carwash c---!" from 'Curb Your Own Enthusiasm'.

Gee, I guess there must be those who either don't clean their own pussies or who always have someone else do it for them. I wonder which category richardlee's mother falls into? Richard, do you clean it for her? How filial that would be!

I took it as, she's so busy cleaning other people's pussies, it's time she started cleaning her own pussy.

I'd clean my pussy if I had the time, but the groomer does such a bang-up job, I'd rather stay out of it!

All childishness aside, I must know the Chinese for this!

Dishwater singer-Bitch-鄙曰客-Bjork,please take your responsibility, keep fighting for what you believe as 鄙曰客-卑鄙的说客.
If you said in public that your scream is a whisper, after your scream in the public, you worth a forgiveness. Your statement proved your are not normal, either you are simply a superficial cow/coward who only wants attention, attention attention, or you just a liar liar liar shammer!!!..

A truly CLOWN, Bjork-鄙曰客-卑鄙的说客

It's time for a "Bad China" concert!

because i clean your mother's pussy, i don't have time to clean your pussy. But i promise i can fuck your ass whether you are, shemale, drag queen, or whatever, to show my kindness, as i already showed to your mother

richardlee is to Shanghaiist what Lewis Black is to The Daily Show - except that Black makes sense. Kindness is shown to mothers, yet, even if you're a shemale OR a drag queen, he gives his word to sodomize.

nanheyangrouchuan - jesus, you still doing your predictable self-promoting shock posts? fucking leave already, you're a parody.

Lewis Black? Cartman?

Thanks for that, richardlee. That's some precious stuff. I'm gonna get a bunch of t-shirts made with that last bit printed up in big gold-glitter Gothic script. It'll be sweet to see hundreds of Shanghai girls and androgynous spiky haircut boys proudly wearing your words on their chests!

But seriously, rl--you post in a pretty civilized and reasonable way elsewhere on shanghaiist. What's with the misogynist Tourette Syndrome outbreaks at the mention of Bjork?

(And yeah, yeah, your momma etc.)

And, so, like, I'm wondering: Any comments on Nancy Pelosi?

how Nancy pelosi become the spokewoman of white house really make me concern! she is a moron!
