Tonight: Broadway cabaret on Moganshan Road

Over the last few years, Broadway has been ever so gently creeping its way from the glitz and glam of Broadway to the back alleys and wet markets of Shanghai. With the recent success of touring productions of The Liong King, Mamma Mia, and most recently, 42nd Street, the group Live Mic Musical hopes to achieve the same kind of success with its first concert cabaret performed in Shanghai.

After some recent birthday celebrations that included karaoke renditions of Broadway's most famous ballads (don't. ask.), we find ourselves suddenly craving more schmaltzy ballads. So, tonight, we'll be brave and enter the hoity toity art scene on Moganshan Road and enjoy some of Broadway's finest love songs, performed by some of China's most talented singers and performers.

The concert's theme is the "Journey of Love". The songs have been chosen based on the journey that all people taken when they are bitten by that love bug. It will feature love songs from some of Broadway's most beloved musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun, Wicked, Avenue Q, and Aida. If you think you're too cool for Broadway, just remember: this is live music in Shanghai. So, please support it.
