From Slate V:
In Slate V's ongoing effort to bring you the worst in world cinema, our bad-movies curator, Mark Jordan Legan, has a sampling of good vs. evil epics from China, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The China entry is actually from pre-handover Hong Kong, but wow — it sure is crappy. File these films (can we use that word here?) under the so-bad-they-are-good category. We think we might like the Filipino one the best, but we could be biased since we watch Filipino TV every day.
Yes, the guy dove in front of the giant papier-mâché boulder ... and he got what was coming to him.
Watch this video. It will have you tying cobras into knots in no time.

Hilarious!
Hmmn ...using Shaw Brothers as an example of 'crap' cinema. Slate are so far out of the loop that they think French New Wave is about surfing on the Cote d'Azure.
The presenter should be sent to Shaw brothers hell for bagging their work, giant hip flasks and all
shaw bros rocks!
Yes!
Crap movies featuring mind numbingly patronising potrayals of 'good vs evil' = all Star Wars movies.
Folks in the USA like this who think that their cultural prejudices are both hilarious and deep, and, by association, the folks who are interested in their opinions, always make me glad to be in China. This guy will be on "The Internet's Doofiest Announcers" reel for sure.
There are many subgenres of this.
"Japan is so crazzzzy" is a particularly bad one. It's so pervasive, in fact, that "Lost in Translation" is held up as a good film.
Actually, a few of you should be placed in SNOB HELL - sure, the Shaw Bros. have made some terrific films and they have also made CRAP - FUN crap but still - Mighty Peking Man!! And Heaven & Hell is fun and beautiful to look at but also unintentionally funny. Ive watched the whole series of videos on this niche and they are hilarious - you dont seem to grasp the satire and tongue in cheek mode of the whole thing. The word CRAP doesnt mean a straight on insult. Stop taking yourself so serious and buy a sense of humor.
