If your pet dies in Shanghai you ought not to bury it. We all live on a delta here where the products of decomposition of a body will leach in the general water source and not do any of us any favours. There is a government crematorium at 346 Shi Long Lu. Phone number 54083180. You can have your pet privately cremated and get heir ashes back or they can be safely publicly cremated. This is yet another area of responsibility for us pet owners. But as has been said, not buying them first is probably the right way to go.

@shangpudi Haha.. sorry if I came out so angry. I'll ask a vet I know here in Shanghai what to do when your pet dies.

It should only take common sense to realize these rabbits are too young. They haven't been weaned from their mother yet, so they cannot eat regular food and thus are doomed to starve to death as you watch them. What a horrible torture that must be for them. The people selling them need to learn to do something else to make a living besides torturing defenseless animals.

Since Noisinessism knows so much about ignorant animal caretakers, maybe s/he will know what to do with the dead carcuses? When our fluffy, infant pet rabbit died last year i wrapped it up in a plastic bag and threw it into the hallway garbage can. Yeah the feeling sucked at the time but now it sucks even more to know that these streetside vendors purposely damage the hopes of many. Yeah, yeah, I know they need to make a living.

I think this is some of the most irresponsible posting that you've ever done at Shanghaiist! Get a cat?! How long do you think a cat or bunny lives? If you get a cat or a bunny be prepared to take care of your cat for possibly 15 years and a bunny for 8 or even 12! Also as to "what to feed them is really a problem", that's not the problem. The problem is that if they're not even weened they'll die whatever you feed them. The problem is also with people how got no clue how to take care of an animal and who hasn't got the commitment needed to give them a good life.
