Local techno goons Void are back on a mission to bring you some quality electronic music. Crew chief Cameron Wilson was serious when he spoke about extending his love of techno beyond lao wai. To prove his point, Void is hosting an all-Chinese lineup of serious techno DJs.
Leading the charge is Void’s Ben Huang – originator of the Ding concept – and Beijing’s Mickey Zhang, who featured at last year’s successful party of the same name. Mickey is one of China’s most well-known DJs, playing at the world-renowned Tresor in Berlin in 2003, and just returning to China this month following a European tour.
Void reunites these two seasoned spinners along with another stalwart from the Beijing scene, Yang Bing – one of the men behind the capital city’s infamous China Pump parties.
Completing the roll-call are Shanghai natives Ben Huang, (also just back from touring Europe), and up-and-coming youngster DJ Fish who has been making waves in the Shanghai underground scene for the past 18 months after first rising to prominence with the Antidote crew.
Between them, the four have decades of DJ experience behind them and Void bring this creative quartet together to prove once and for all – China knows techno.
Become a believer this Saturday night at The Shelter, at 5 Youngfu Lu near Fuxing Xi Lu, starting at 10 PM. 50 RMB gets you in the door.
