Getting Around: Lujiazui line, Zhangjiang overcapacity, and a Longyang welcome

Last night's Shanghai Evening Post contained several meaty public transportation related articles covering the following topics:

• Documents have been released suggesting that an extra Puxi-Pudong line could be added to the plans for Shanghai's metro system, turning Lujiazui into a two-line interchange station.
• With the completion and opening of Lines 6 and 8, plus the rapid development of the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Line 2 has become more and more crowded at all hours. In addition to the measures already implemented, the Metro company plans to add an extra 8-car train — the line's first — after the May holiday.
• Red-sashed service attendants are making an appearance at Longyang Rd subway station, helping newcomers learn how to use the metro system and passing out the number of a bilingual service hotline. These attendants will also help passengers with heavy luggage, because both escalators at the station were changed to carry passengers in the upward direction after complaints by older passengers. Longyang Rd provides these special services because it handles both airport passengers through its Maglev connection and visitors to the New International Expo Center across the street.
