Following the explosive opening weekend at Windows Tembo and another great Subs performance the scene is still buzzing with activity and expectation. One side effect appears to be hype and punditry getting in earlier than usual so Shanghaiist does not want to be left out.
The hype this week is building around the You Say Party! We Say Die! gig at Dream Factory this Saturday and with Hard Queen and Banana Monkey also on the bill, we understand why. CW music columnist Aric Queen is wondering which of two after parties for the show is the real 'official' party and who will win out, DJ Ozone or DJ R3. Electronic music DJs doing the after parties at rock shows? Why not play rock music afterwards?
It's time for this Shanghaiist to take a break from the hype and to hang at Yuyintang for the next 0093 Rock Party on Saturday night. The venue's CD shop is now open and has CDs from a wide range of local Chinese acts. This week's party will be headlined by Mortal Fools. The 0093 parties are showcases for new bands and musicians who are based in the 0093 rehearsal studios, so head on down to Yuyingtang to see who's on their way up. Starts from 7.00pm:
Sour Rain
BlacKRomancE
Wildcat
Joker
Crazy Mushroom
Little Nature
Mortal Fools
Yuyintang, this Saturday 7pm: 1731 West Yan An Rd (Kai Xuan Rd)
Directly next to the Yan'an Road West station.

Just curious ... will any of these bands play original material? Or will it be like last month's "showcase" of cover bands? I have to give YYT props, though ... it takes balls to charge entry to a show and not even give the bands cab fare.
Hey Brad
Yeah, I reviewed the last 0093 rock party here and mentioned my dissapointment that it was 90% covers.
Little Nature are pretty tight and have future headlining potential ... but you can't buy the kind of charisma commanded by the Subs, for example. They (LN) need an image too.
And you know my attitude towards rewarding bands.
Yeah, so let's see if this showcase can build itself into an actual showcase.
