I see Sega is the latest puff of angry youth to blow our way. He'll probably get an ulcer guzzling coke, shoveling fried rice and burning out his eyes in front of that cheap net bar monitor defending the Party of Death.

Sega, I actually didn't mean you personally were an asshole. Actually, I was referring to Western doublespeak, and the fact that while America and other nations also do bad things (and act like assholes), they are able to cloak their activities in more politically savvy language. Sorry if that was unclear, didn't mean to offend you though I understand why I did.

I do believe that Xinhua should abandon its dated, revolutionary rhetoric. It's not terribly sophisticated or even intelligent, and it reflects poorly on your government and the people of China, in my opinion.

Oh, and Americans do know that John McCain has a short fuse. And your joke about Chelsea Clinton made me laugh. Tell me one about Hu Jintao.

well, i don't know what i said made people label me as asshole, but i give you that. as my girlfriend described, i bitching too much and maybe that is why you think i am an asshole.

anyway, when did i ever said xinhua or any chinese media are balanced and fair? you can check all my comments and you won't be able to. however, i do think the western media are bias just like the chinese media. the only difference between western media and chinese media is that western media is driven by profit and the chinese media is driven by chinese government. it is not i that said western media is biased, if you are American, i recommand you to listen to Randi Rhodes, i learned a lot from her and she step by step prove to me that American media is not fair and balanced. the immediate example i can give you is the reporting on John McCain. there aren't a lot of negative reporting on this republic candidate, why? because he is very approachable to the reporters. the reporters loves him. Most Americans don't know McCain has a hot temper but the media never report it. the comment he made about chelsea clinton back in 98,"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." the media simply tell the public,"oh, it's ok, he's always like that, he didn't mean it." but look at the recent comment made by Barack Obama about the poor people in pennsylvania? he is repeatly hammer by that comment while personally i think his comment is true and sincere. how is this fair? i never said the chinese government has no problem in human right issue, in social issue, in foreign policy and in economy issues. actually i believe they are wrong in many ways. however, i can't stress enough about trying to asking people to understand that this government of china is still young, it has huge space to improve and become a better society. why don't give it a little bit more time? by force demacrocy on china, there are too many riskes that chinese people like me don't want to happen to our country. as i said in other comments, it took western countries a good 200 years to get to where they are right now? why do you expect china to acheive what other countires achieved in 4 times of the time than what this chinese government has? try to talk to the government, guide it softly, don't kept criticize it repeatly. use a common knowledge, if you are a parent, when you try to teach your child, do you brutally beat him/her down and constantly yell at him/her or you want to treat him/her with respect and try to talk to him/her? the answer is obvious isn't it?

and please don't insult people who work at xinhua because they too are human being and they too have a heart, from time to time they had to do something that they don't want, but they have families to feed and they have families that they cared about.

and finally, please don't insult me by implying that i am the propaganda machine of the chinese government because it is not true.

Sega, that's a reasonably insightful analysis of how not to seem like an asshole, even when you are behaving like one. You should write for Xinhua. They need people like you.

One thing that's rarely touched on these forums is that local netizens expect fair and balanced reporting (just like Xinhua), but the government won't provide reporters any access besides a school trip on a government bus where they serve up free Kool Aid and scripted interviews. See, that's not how reporting is done in other places, and it doesn't work out all that well for any party - including your own.

Come on richardlee, there's no reason to say that. I know you are upset, but by saying what you said to taihanasie, you are only making people agreeing him more. it is like the Dalai Lama, the reason why western people like him more than Chinese leaders is because he is approachable and he always uses words like equality, freedom, peace, etc. His words are more accepted. Unlike the Chinese leaders, they always say things like "never, absolute, not afraid to use force" and other strong words. I think the Chinese government should learn from the United States and the other western nations on political tricks. For example, promises the journalists the right to enter China for interviews and reports but don't grant them VISA. It is not the government's fault that they can't report, it is because their VISA didn't go through because of this or that? Who cares. It's not like the other countries leaders don't throw out random promises. One thing thought, the Chinese government should always keep the promises that it made to the Chinese citizens. Seriously though, I have no problem with journalist and reports being in China as long as they really do a fair and balanced report but that didn't seem to be the case. If Chinese media only report the good in China, then the western media only report the bad and neither party is right or professional.

In other words, Richard, you are saying: "In this controversial matter, only we have a right to be right, so don't tell us we are wrong because only we have the right to be right, so don't tell...." Goodness, if only all of us had the luxury to approach controversial matters in the same way.

Flight of the Conchords is hilarious and won't be without Kristen Schaal.

But the clip was based on the stereotypes about China, in a sort of funny way, but isn't quite funny considering the current events.

Where did they get those kid?
