cnn distortion of truth needs to be stopped. You are brainwashed by misinformation. YOu think support an unjust war is patriotic. When millions of civilians are killed and more than 4000 of our own are killed for what? Now when CNN calling names to chinese people as goons and thugs should not be rejected by Chinese people? HOw about other people call Americans are all brain dead morons? Dont you feel insulted? If that comment is from CNN, would not you feel like protest?

Tommylee, you are obviously unable to have a rational discussion. I don't mind debating with people who can actually discuss issues. You obviously don't know how. For example, how was what I said in any way racist? Where did I say that it was right to accost Jin Jing or put images of her in the papers? And what is wrong with someone, or anyone acting morally? Would you prefer that we all act immorally? I guess that would make criticism of other people's points of view easier.

Here's a very good point raised by a commenter on the Time China Blog. ...does it really matter if the French are being singled out? The anti-French sentiments will fade. The important issue is how the entire problem has changed from Tibet to Chinese citizens vs. the west. No one talks about Tibet or how to address the issue anymore. It's all "Chinese protest against the West!!" these last couple of days.

It is a well known fact that the Party controls the news that can be reported in the domestic press and that certain Tibet-related stories (Jin Jing and the torch for example) have gotten a lot of coverage in local papers as opposed to other stories (peaceful protests by monks - which have been common,and which problematise Chinese policy in Tibet - as opposed to the much rarer, although more visible riots). My purpose in this comment is not to place moral blame for the Tibet situation, but to say that you can in no way say the Party is not to some degree responsible for the escalation of nationalist sentiment in recent days. A certain degree of nationalism is convenient for the Party. Too much is potentially inconvenient. This is why only now, after several days of tension, has the official press published statements saying that too much anger can be harmful. Denying this is to deny the Party's role in disseminating "proper" news within China. I would hope your nationalism hasn't blinded you to that fact.

Well, expats may not like it, I dont like it and now you know how easily the Chinese people can be misled...and still you attack no media freedom or human right of parade? I would thank CPC on their wise control of the public opinion... not on this one but for most other work they did... If these people go against CPC, the party will be over soon... Freedom of speech kills autocracy. But do I need that so much 'human right' when I am pretty sure the autocracy is doing a good job? The point is we dont wanna take risks... putting an end over CPC now is way too much risky. Yeah i am against the rude slogan over the taxi as well. Is it against law to refuse the french to get on their taxi? discipline!

Just because a few Chinese call her "traitor" doesn't mean all Chinese all her "traitor".
