Right, but "submitting an application" is not even close to being "planned" -- we should all know that by now!

Hey Michael

YYT submitted an official permit application to host a Shanghai branch of the Midi festival in Tianshan park behind the YYT venue. It was then rejected by way of being told the time was too short to approve the application under the current conditions.

This news was then posted on the YYT facebook group and I followed it up by speaking to people in the YYT office. Hence - 'cancelled'.

Do you think that the YYT people were not in touch with the Beijing Midi people and were doing an unofficial show? I didn't look into that ro ask them about it.

The organizers at Midi (beijing) have still not given talents a final confirmation about it being canceled or postponed. It seems they are still working on a solution to keep it on. It looks grim, but there's still hope.

As for the Shanghai Midi -- you can't cancel something that was never planned in the first place. The whole thing was a rumor from the start.

The "Mini Midi" has not been canceled and there doesn't seem to be any reason it should be. It's scheduled at 2 Kolegas in Beijing on May 1, 2, and 3.

It seems there was some confusion, some people were calling the rumored Shanghai Midi as "Mini Midi"... but the real mini midi is the experimental-noise-electronic stage that's usually at the Haidian Park with the rest of the fest, but at 2 Kolegas this year. Perhaps they were thinking smart in advance by planning it there!
