With Midi being canceled our mood has definitely turned glum. But what sucks for those festival fans and the Beijing scene might not be all that bad for us here in Shanghai. More of the bands originally scheduled to attend Midi are scrambling to book gigs in Shanghai, packing our schedule with quality shows. Kicking things off tonight are the Hussy Hicks a folk/jazz duo from Australia who will be providing plenty of much needed chill out music at Labella Cafe. This show is free and the cocktails are always good, so what better way to relax after a hard day at work (or writing angry blogs).
If mellow music isn’t enough to release your blogger’s rage, then Friday night head to Live Bar where angry sounding metal bands Angry Christ, Destruction of Redemption and Resurrection will help you head bang out your anger. This weekend is also big for French bands and Shanghaiist recommends showing your support by checking out electro-rockers Oolfloo at Yuyintang on Friday (Saturday at Live Bar) and Orange Zebre with One Step Inside at Windows Tembo on Saturday. If you are pissed at their government, it doesn’t mean you should show hate to these fun-loving bands. Hell, they are touring China because they like it here and hope to make more Chinese friends. Analog Girl from Singapore has been gaining a lot of international exposure lately and is bringing her surreal sound to Labella on Saturday.
