Windows Tembo is on the move

windows%20tembo%20moving.jpgWindows Tembo is set to move from its current location Shaanxi Bei Lu to new digs near the Nanjing Xi Lu metro station at the end of the month. The new venue is being renovated at the moment and plans to open on May 30th. The transition will be seamless however, with no downtime between the old venue closing and the new one opening.

The new location on Nanjing Road will also come with a new name — Windows Underground — reflecting its move towards live music. Since being transformed into a more music oriented venue a month ago, Tembo has established itself as one of the premier gig spots in Shanghai with some cracking shows from Subs and PK14 among others.

The Nanjing Road venue is in the midst of renovations to make it better suited to live music and should be a big improvement on the Shaanxi Road bar with a bigger space, a new soundsystem, and (just in time for the summer) better A/C and ventilation systems. Following a bad month for live music fans in China, Tembo's move to a new and improved venue in the centre of the city is a welcome bout of good news.
