Anything on the coding end of the site that disallows tags or anything? That's the only thing that comes to mind offhand. I'll give it a go later tonight after work and see if it's embeddable on one of my sites.
Also, if you click on this: http://ditu.google.com/maps/mpl?moduleurl=http://www.google.com/mapfiles/mapplets/olympic2008/torch/torch.xml and open the links part, the html is uncopyable. Perhaps they don't really WANT people to embed it.
