There is a lot of support happening all over. In terms of ideas for generating donations, talk to the guy at Ningboguide.com. They just raised 450K RMB at their BBQ.

I am pretty certain that with the backing of Shanghaiist and Sasha's, the money raised will actually get to the agency that can do some good where it is needed. However, I have my doubts about some of the activities being promoted out there and urge everyone to not give blindly and ask for transparency in the distribution of donations.

Yeah, that is indeed very generous of Sashas :)

Unfortunately I'm in SWE at the moment so I cannot come, but I still donated money being in sweden.

I'm crossing my fingers for this hopefully very successful event!

AB, thanks for the great tips. If you or anyone else out there, could help set it up, that would be great. However, Shanghaiist definitely lacks the technical expertise to do that ourselves, especially with such a short timeline.

Post with all the donors listed will be out shortly!

You really should sell tickets online so that people who couldn't come can still "buy" a ticket, and have it counted toward the 50% match.

A_B - All proceeds will go to charity. Of course there will be opportunities to give more. Please leave your suggestions for more ways we can raise money - everything is appreciated.

On top of what was written,

- Justbeer.cn are putting up a raffle prize of 5 cases of fosters, and another prize of 2 cases of Crown lager.
- An anonymous donor is going to match what we raise with 50% of his own money... so your 180rmb actually equates to 270rmb!!!

This is very generous of the organizers to basically throw in the food, drink, and service as their donation for the event.

However, I am wondering if the organizers will consider the following:

- Provide a means for patrons to voluntarily contribute to the cost of food and beverage (which the management can elect to just add to the donation or to use it to offset their costs.

- Provide a similar means for attendees to give their usual and customary tips to the staff, which the staff may, at their option, either keep it, or donate it themselves.

There is no benefit fatigue with me here.
