You do not seem to mention Finnair, who gives the best prices - as far as I know. The routes via Helsinki are the ideal for most European destinations, so the prices are good as well. Finnair normally flies brand new Airbus on the routes to Shanghai, but sometimes you may get one of the old DC planes. Not bad, but no individual TV screens, and the aircraft inside looks old. They are safe, much safer and younger than some DC flown by US airlines overseas. Just the contract is strong with the shiny new Airbus. I suggest you check Finnair prices before you fly. They may be much cheaper, you will fly through the not-crowded, very convenient Helsinki-Vantaa airport, shorter flight time etc. Worth a look.

Thanks biggie for pointing that out. Wow have they upped their fuel surcharges by THAT much? Or is this a case of deceptive advertising I wonder. Hmm...

At this rate, turns out Air Berlin is the cheapest.

The Air France deal to London is stupid. The taxes are actually more than the flight, meaning a round trip at the start of July comes to over ¥8k - nowhere near ¥4040. Going through the KLM site is the same story. Admittedly they're both (a bit) cheaper than China Eastern / Virgin / BA direct flights. BUT.. I just got the same dates through KLM on travelocity for under ¥7k... where they include the taxes in all price quotes.
