dutchmaster: no photoshopping (sharpened, vignetted and levelled in Lightroom), but the image was made from 3 exposures to capture detail in the both the places where the Sun shone and detail in the shadow. Our eyes have a greater effective dynamic range than a camera, so combining exposures actually gets one closer to our perception of an image.

There are many stories in that photo, most of them not very pleasant. But it is necessary to see and be confronted with the honesty exhibited.

After a quick glance at small thumbnail i thought the man's calves were the backside of a sexy female,,, that was a rude awakening. damn you shanghaiist.
