I stand by my conclusions if you actually think a US customs agent would a) browse somebody's internet cache on their laptop (they have better things to do) or b) think that the above picture is child pornography (they aren't stupid). And you still don't really have a firm grasp on the meaning of irony, verbal or otherwise. Sure let's discuss Shanghaiist's status. It does have a public community, but at the end of the day, it's privately owned! They can post whatever they want. Like I originally said, if you don't like the content absolutely nothing is stopping you from promptly fucking off.

Shanghaiist: Please take note and stop posting news about some obscure foreign musician playing at some dive bar in Shanghai. NO ONE CARES! You can tell by the lack of comments on any of those stories. "So and so played his famous 150BPM tunes all night at The Cro Bar. We rocked out and it was a great night." "Ok, nice to know.." Contrary to what you believe, these stories do not make you "hip" or "hop" or whatever you're trying to be. More "Penis on back" stories is the way to go.

seriously - why not just google alert for whatever *you* want to read and get your news this way. said story has been in all sorts of online publications, is newsworthy, quirky in a sense and is interesting. didn't see any of this backlash with the other stories dealing with deformity.

Pardon, my language, but DAMN! Shanghaiist has reached a new low with this posting. Is this some pathetic grab at eyes now that laowai are disappearing everyday due to "visa issues"? In all seriousness, what does this information contribute to the community? What does it have to do with Shanghai? Was it necessary to add the picture? I don't disgust easily, and indeed, if I had seen this on cruel.com or something similar I wouldn't even bat an eye. What disgusts me is your editorial policy letting this get into an otherwise respectable publication...
