Tonight: Heartbeat Auction in Putuo

Heartbeat%20auction_360x480.jpgA month after the tragedy in Sichuan you’d be forgiven for feeling a little compassion fatigue. Whilst the focus of the recovery process has changed from the desperate speed of the first few days, there is still a lot of work to be done repairing damage both physical and emotional.

On that theme then, tonight sees an event hosted by a group of Shanghai’s creative arts and fashion crowd called Heartbeat in Putuo.

The organisers of Heartbeat have been to the tent schools set up in Sichuan after the original schools crumbled away in the quake. The event will feature video footage and photos from the schools as well as artwork drawn by the kids themselves.

The auction part of the event is being sponsored by some of Hong Kong and Shanghai’s finest photographers and fashion designers as well as Diesel- so expect to see art-quality prints, clothes, paintings and other such creative-type doohickeys under the hammer.

Whilst it’s a serious cause the focus is on fun, when we spoke to the organisers earlier they mentioning something about a box of fly swatters(?) We don’t know either but there’s one way to find out…
