Canadian model found dead on Chongming Island

The body of a 22 year old model, Diana Gabrielle O'Brien, from Salt Spring, British Columbia, has been found on Chongming Island, where she was on an overnight modeling assignment. We haven't found any report of it yet in the Chinese press, but numerous Canadian media are already on the story. Apparently, O'Brien had not been happy in Shanghai with the modeling assignments she was getting here, and had already been telling friends that she was planning to go home just one month into her three-month contract. Grieving family and friends of O'Brien have had no news from the Shanghai police or Foreign Affairs of how O'Brien died and whether she was murdered, but they have been informed that an autopsy will be conducted soon. O'Brien's boyfriend, Joel Berry, who has known her for 10 years (and who was intending to marry her), says she was not into drugs or alcohol or anything, so he couldn't help but "think it was anything except foul play".

    To Yangrouchuan,

You are wrong, as laways. She was not employed by "Local boss". Instead she signed modelling contract with Canadian office of a Taiwanese company.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A medical examiner says a Fredericksburg deliveryman who was abducted and killed died from a stab wound to the chest.

The medical examiner on Tuesday identified a body found in a remote area of Sussex County as 24-year-old Yong Hui Zhang.

Fredericksburg police say Zhang had been missing since he was apparently ambushed behind an apartment building last Thursday night, while delivering food for his family's restaurant, China Express. On Saturday, police arrested 34-year-old Jermaine Montgomery and his girlfriend, 36-year-old Marcey White at a Wal-Mart in Franklin, where they allegedly used Zhang's credit card. They face abduction, carjacking and credit card theft charges.

Both Montgomery and White are being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

And how about this? I guess you racist will think he must be killed by Chinese, right?

  • EL JEFE

I don't really think this is a laughing matter at all, and I think it is despicable that a couple of wacko douches will bend it to their own devices.

Can't you guys go play grabass somewhere where the rest of us can't watch?

  • nanheyangrouchuan

Considering that one of the jobs that she was complaining about was "dancer", it is safe to assume she was being led into the world of "white women for sale". She probably wasn't into entertaining filthy local bosses.

The Shanghai police say that her apartment was robbed, but her roommate found the body, what does she say?

  • RUSHOUR1

nanheyangrouchuan's raping complex is obvious. Guess he must have a quite malested childhood.

  • hotshotdebut

I don't think "have a thing" means enjoy necessarily. Here it means "have a strong opinion about something" since his first reaction is raping. By the way, the new reports suggest that it was likely to be a robbery.

Really? "a thing for raping. LOL"

Insinuating that someone has a thing for rape (or jokes about someone enjoying rape) makes you laugh out loud? Really?

  • hotshotdebut

Maybe 羊肉串 has a thing for raping. LOL

Many Canadian male and female models work in Asia and around the world

VANCOUVER — The owner of a Vancouver-based model agency says there are hundreds and perhaps thousands of Canadian male and female models working around the world, including China, hoping for their big break.

Murray Tennant, owner of BMG Models, was commenting on the death earlier this week of B.C.-based model Diana O'Brien.

Her body was found in Shanghai in what Chinese police are reportedly treating as a homicide.

The 22-year-old O'Brien, of Salt Spring Island, had been working for one of China's leading modelling agencies since mid-June.

Tennant, who has no connection with O'Brien, says that a typical model working on a two-to-three month modelling contract in Asia can earn as much as $15,000 to $20,000.

He and other model agency representatives say models from Canada go to Asia for experience and exposure and because the industry in Asia and Europe is much bigger than in Canada.

"Was she raped as well? Will the Canadian government demand an investigation? was there another "princeling" involved"?

Boy, I guess you've seen far too much sensational Hollywood cold war kitsch which you spent every lonely evening watching with salivar dropping into your popcorn bag.

How about " Canadian model served as insider for topless Rambo but killed by Chinese secret agent"? LOL!

  • nanheyangrouchuan

or was there another "princeling" involved?

Was she raped as well? Will the Canadian government demand an investigation?

  • yu888

    Sad.

Well if it is foul play, the localmedia probably will be instructed NOT to report on it.
