Miracle surgery in Taiwan saves legs of Jiangsu elephantiasis patient

A 24 year old woman from Jiangsu, Wang Cheng, is all smiles again after a successful operation in Taiwan on her rare condition, elephantiasis, which has hit her since the age of six and caused her legs to treble in size to about 50 kilos. Wang's condition had baffled doctors at major hospitals in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and Zhengzhou but help came in the form of a Taiwanese Buddhist group Fo Kuang Shan which decided to pay all her travel and non-medical expenses to bring her to an elephantiasis specialist in Taiwan, Dr Hsu Wen-hsien. The cost of the 10-hour operation and related care, estimated at US$16,500 (S$22,800), was provided free by the Taipei Municipal Wan Fang Hospital. More background available here.

I used to walk by that hospital every day on the way to school.

Congratulations on Ms. Wang on her recovery.

This story leaves me with one question... can the mosquitoes in Jiangsu give you eliphantiasis?

Yes, also McDonald's food.
