What I did on my summer vaction... cosmetic surgery!
According to China Daily, more and more middle and high school students are taking advantage of the summer holidays to make the kind of changes that will impress their peers come fall. But it isn’t a summer class or even a new workout routine they are adopting — it’s cosmetic surgery.
A local paper in Guangzhou, the Nanfang Daily, reported that the number of young people undergoing procedures has doubled for the month of July, when students have time to recover before heading back to school with boosted bodies and self-confidence.
"Dozens of school children have come daily to our hospital since the beginning of July," Chen Jianfei, a doctor at the Guangdong Armed Police Hospital plastic surgery center said. "The youngest case I have seen is a 13-year-old girl."It isn’t just nervous preteen girls going in for boob jobs either — The Guangzhou Modern Hospital plastic surgery center reported that one-fifth of its patients are male. Regardless of gender, we have to agree with the medical experts who say that plastic surgery this young is a pretty bad plan.Only a small proportion of young adults he has seen are congenitally malformed, Chen said. They generally request cosmetic procedures, such as blepharoplasty (double eyelids), breast enlargements, and liposuction.
