Kusp of Krispy Kreme?
Remember that post a few weeks back about the growing obesity problem in China? Well let's temporarily store that in a deep, dark place as we rejoice the latest and most concrete indicator yet that Krispy Kreme, our favorite of all decadent donut shops, is finally bringing its fatty treasures to the Mainland.
By coincidence, Tudou's Marc van der Chijs came across a job ad in last Thursday's Shanghai Daily looking for senior executives to ostensibly help lead Krispy Kreme's restaurants in China. At least, that's what van der Chijs guesses in his blog post before he muses over the poor English in the listing. Poorly worded ad or not, our heart rate is already accelerating at the thought of biting down on a freshly baked ring of hot joy. Long-time readers will know not to get their hopes up, though, as we first mentioned the chain's potential arrival back in 2006. Who knows what will happen; Dunkin' Donuts was supposed to be here by now, and yet the donut drought continues.
