Vera, while you have the right to that opinion and if thats what floats your boat, so be it. It was pretty, but much too ethnocentric, and more of a celebration of the "cult of Chinese culture" than anything else. The emphasis on the four inventions and ethnic unity was overwrought and just more propaganda and lies from the thugs and goons in Beijing. "Look at how happy our stinking little poor, stupid, culturally-inferior, exploited minority people are!" says China, "See how much they love China too!" Fuck you. If you asked the man or woman who supposedly invented any of the so-called "four inventions of ancient China" where he or she was from, he or she would definitely not answer "China" and they would not answer in Chinese. Nor is there any concrete evidence that these were not adopted from elsewhere. As it is, most Chinese IP is begged, borrowed and stolen from the rest of the world, so what's changed? They're grasping for straws and would claim to have invented fire and the wheel if it weren't so overtly stupid. I tried to watch the opening ceremonies with an open mind, but was sickened by all of the hatred and lies woven into the cult of Chinese culture.

I was in awe of the opening ceremony. It was a true spectacle that all the people of China should be proud of.
