PK-14, Tookoo, Echo Rusha and more live music

After months of nothing more than a trickle of live shows, there is a flood of gigs this weekend and Shanghaiist is left wondering how to manage with all the choices. Tonight at Yuyintang, Tookoo will be playing with 3 other bands. Being called everything from EMO to Indie, Tookoo is puts on a solid performance and we expect the small confines of YYT to be bursting with people.

PK-14 is finally back in town and playing at the Dream Factory along with locals Boys Climbing Ropes, Rogue Transmission and Hard Queen. With their original CD release party scheduled in July but postponed until now due to injury, the built up anticipation should make for a climax of sweaty moshers. STD is also back in action with Echo Rush, from Xian, at Logo Bar. Since those parties never get started till after midnight should make for a great PK-14 after party. If you aren't really into the indie scene and prefer a show with more hair and head banging then try Yuyintang where a handful of metal bands will be on stage.

The weather in Shanghai has been great as of late, and we hope it stays that way... at least until the China Now Music Festival is over. Taking place on Sunday and Monday afternoons in Huai Hai Park there will be free performances from bands ranging from Cold Fairyland to the Honeys and Crazy Mushroom.

Old Doll from Nanjing are finally bringing their old school punk sounds to Shanghai. They will at be at Live Bar on Monday and Yuyintang on Tuesday. Despite being based in Nanjing they don't play that often in Shanghai so we suggest getting off your asses and seeing them while you can.
