If your thirst for online party photos and event calendars is not being satisfied by the daily offerings of Facebook, Smart Shanghai, City Weekend, SH, then you need to check out City Moments, the brand new website in town devoted almost entirely to glorious Shanghai party photos, events calendars and social networking. We gather the site is a labor of love and the photographers are volunteers working for the sheer love of the spotlight. And they certainly have lots of photographs on their side. City Moments aims to help you "connect with friends and share your moments with them, be up to date about Shanghai´s nightlife, have access to the hottest event pictures in town (Charlie Xia, watch out!)." Noble aims, indeed. Yup, Shanghai certainly does love looking at photos of itself, perhaps more so even than posing in front the mirror in the toilets of Bar Rouge while applying lipstick. Practice makes perfect and, as the good book says, "All is vanity and vexation of spirit". So there you have it.

Indeed, Shanghai is the ultimate location to drink, look fabulous and pretend you are "somebody."
The party photos are so predictable and stupid with boys and girls looking aroused with puckered lips and bleary eyes. Everyone can look smart and everyone can have a tipple because everyone bats outside of their income bracket in China. And if you can't, well, there's always room for hangers-on, if you're cute enough.
I remember some time ago, someone described the Shanghai as being a "dirty shrimp cooler full of pretentiousness and STDs," which I think is still apt. It's a temporary desert oasis that will last until your liver gives-out or Shanghai gets to expensive, whichever comes first.
I love SmartShanghai's party photos. Their photographers really know what they're doing.
