The party photos are so predictable and stupid with boys and girls looking aroused with puckered lips and bleary eyes. Everyone can look smart and everyone can have a tipple because everyone bats outside of their income bracket in China. And if you can&apos;t, well, there&apos;s always room for hangers-on, if you&apos;re cute enough.

I remember some time ago, someone described the Shanghai as being a &quot;dirty shrimp cooler full of pretentiousness and STDs,&quot; which I think is still apt. It&apos;s a temporary desert oasis that will last until your liver gives-out or Shanghai gets to expensive, whichever comes first.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
