Dear blicket, I'm not taking this personally and I stand by what I said. If what you read on Shanghaiist doesn't tickle your fancy, by all means go find another blog that will. Part of what Shanghaiist does is to bring to the attention of the English-language reader what's happening on the Chinese Internet. Stories like these are what makes Shanghaiist quintessentially Shanghaiist. We weren't the first on the English-language China blogosphere to highlight this video, and we weren't the last. People are still discussing this video as we speak. Long-time readers of Shanghaiist will know what we're like: We don't bend editorial content to please advertisers (not like there's a lot of them to begin with); We give established journalism the prick they need from time to time; and we're happy for others to poke fun at us in return. What we won't do is to pander to the whims and fancies of individual readers -- fan or not. I'm not here to write stories so I can collect popularity points. Sure, we have our hits and misses, and we're always happy for people to point out factual (and grammatical) errors in our stories. You have a problem with our story? By all means engage us in polite, intellectual debate. Just coming on here to say YOU find the story boring or that YOU think we haven't put in enough effort is a lazy and lousy criticism, and all very counter-productive. Believe you me, the editors of this site have been called all sorts of names and we have a very high tolerance for criticism. But it has been very demoralising for some of our writers, and they really don't need to deal with this shit. Going forward, we'll be a lot stricter with comments like the ones made by nanheyangrouchuan and eastman above. And we'll start deleting whatever we think can be construed as xenophobic or racist because it's led to nothing but flame wars -- 100% of the time. Multiple and repeat offenders (along with all their reincarnations) will be banned. Sorry guys, we're all for free speech and all, but clearly it's not working here. It's also about time we paid heed to the increasing number of reader emails telling us that this free-for-all has taken us on a road to nowhere. Commenting on this thread is now CLOSED. tsk tsk. That's not very nice Ken. You really shouldn't take it so personally. Are you raging Ken? On the account that that not much effort was put into the article, the critism is well deserved. Don't be childish. And also the ill thought logic of going to another site will NOT minimize my losses no matter how you see it. I'm one of this blog's biggest fans and you're suggesting for me to leave?? I've been cut to the core :(

Dear mark925 and blicket, I can't give you your 5 minutes back, but I do have one piece of good advice that will help minimise your losses: Go look for another blog that better meets your informational needs because Shanghaiist will continue to feature 'stupid' and 'ridiculous' posts like this whether you like it or not.

I second mark925's remarks. What kind of post is this? If I wanted to watch some pathetic kid's incitements against China (gamers), I can skip shanghaist altogether and go straight to youtube, nevertheless about a kid who's ego's been bruised on WOW? I mean how big of story is this rally? Is shanghai really things boring and slow making this actually NEWS worthy??? Is it even gaining any traction beyond a single blog? Does anyone really care what this retard is gibber jabbering about? I want the 5 minutes of my life back! I'm also tired of repeatedly reading entries swiped off of other more popular blogs. As others have pointed out in past posts..HOW ABOUT GIVING IT A LITTLE BIT MORE EFFORT huh Shanghaist?? I still have some faith here...this is ridculous!

"forgot to harvest a second fur from the poor dog" was what I meant. I've nothing against Koreans, since they sure BBQ dog out of hatred of American beaf, unlike Chinese who eat dog meant out of hatred of Koreans. I also suggest Koreans to move to Beijing to join 80,000 strong Korean community who hate China with clenth teeth but enjoy the red meat of 10 time cheaper.

"Angry Korean gamer"? I honetsly agree. He looks also quite breathless and helpless, Obviously it has nothing to do with game. I guess he is that way not because he was mobbed by Chinese kids in a dark ally outside of an internet bar, but because he just got to know his parents BBQed a whole dog for lunch but forgot to harvest two fur from the poor dog before the kill.

For tourist information I suggest mark925 to buy a Lonely Planet guidebook and refer to City magazine websites for light entertainment. I think Kenneth has his finger very much on the pulse and the stuff he comes up with is relevant. This video-guy obviously has had his fill of being in China.

Jesus christ Shanghaiist sucks balls. You can't go a day without a post about how some idiot somewhere is insulting China, and how mad everyone is (but someone on the internet is wrong! Something must be done!). The other 'ist' blogs actually have some decent info about their city.
