Al-Jazeera takes another look at children, this time at the 150,000 homeless children that the government estimates roams the streets of China. Our hearts are drawn to Wang Pan who wandered the streets alone for a year after his mother was put on death row for murdering his father (while he watched), and Guo Jianhua who himself was once an absent father and is today the founder of an orphanage in Shaanxi province.

Al-Jazeera on child abductions in China

I'm certainly no expert on this matter, but 150,000 seems very low for a poor country with a population of 1.3 billion. I would be interested to know what qualifies a child as "homeless". (Disclaimer: I have not watched the video because it is a pain to watch it at work).
If the govt does not want to care for these children, couldnt they be offered for adoption? Obviously the parents have rights here, but not if they cannot provide for the child during their imprisonment. And obviously, a death sentence eliminates any chance of reunion.
Can someone post further info for contacting and contributing money to Mr.Guo Jianhua's cause?
