This Saturday is a big one for bar openings, perhaps it's the changing of the seasons (or the lifting of the Olympics curse).
We already mentioned (and are beginning to wish we hadn't in case it gets too packed) Cotton's second branch at 294 Xin Hua Lu, now we hear another Shanghai institution has a new venture.
Studio 78 / Tasca is a 24 hour Mediterranean restaurant above Judy's Too on Tongren Lu- just the place to take the nice young lady you met downstairs for a date.
(We're not sure in what way Studio 78 at the same venue is new, but aren't prepared to argue when there are 3 hours of free drinks on offer).
2nd floor, 78-80 Tong Ren Lu
Open Bar 8-11pm, drinks 15RMB afterwards, free canapes
Kaiba, part of the new 528 Kangding Lu crowd has also chosen Saturday 18th for their big opening bash.
When we last visited this place, word hadn't gotten around about their selection of 65 different beers- now we're told that Shanghai's Belgian community have taken up permanant residence so you'll have to get there early to claim one of the 100 beers they're giving away to early birds.
After the initial rush, a bottle of Duvel and 600ml of Stella Artois will be 30RMB each.
528 Kangding Lu
7pm-late
All events are this Saturday, 18th October and are open to the public.
N.B If your bar is giving away free liquor this, or any other weekend, please feel free to email James@Shanghaiist.com
