Student starts fight with six policemen in Harbin, gets beaten to death

Warning: Video contains some disturbing images.

Last Saturday, Harbin City Sports Academy student, Lin Songling who had just ended a night of fun and games with a few chums at the city's Box Club picked up a fight with several policemen (who apparently were also drunk) and ended up getting beaten to death by them. Earlier rumours on BBS's had suggested the police were the first to pick up the fight, but the Harbin PSB department has since called for a press conference, pulled out a CCTV video and showed Lin constantly picking up a fight with the policemen, picking up things from the floor to attack them even when his friends tried to stop him. Both Lin's friends and the six policemen have all been detained. Similar events in the past in other provinces and the tendency for the Chinese internet to spiral rumours out of control has led the Harbin municipal government to pay a lot of attention to this and promise justice for Lin.

ChinaSmack has more pictures of the crime scene here (WARNING: Not for the faint-hearted as it includes Lin's dead body) and offers more BBS talk suggesting Lin was a spoilt brat that behaved arrogantly and was not afraid of the police as his family had "connections", and that he was looking for trouble and got what he asked for.

Well, picking a fight with a bunch of cops never ends well in any country. Beating someone to death is wrong but assaulting a police officer usually ends up badly for the assaulter.

It will be interesting to see how the blue wall handles a princeling shit youth and if the higher levels of the PSB lean on the parents not to raise such a stink.

If this had happened in the US. the police would have opened fired...

The kid's got balls.. you have to give that to him.

Street cops aren't allowed to carry guns. No telling what would have happened if they did.

As to what US cops would have done, if they were LA or NYC, guns would have been out. But a while back in Philly a guy got pulled over after a chase and threw the first cop to approach him to the ground. After that a dozen cops lined up and beat the guy so bad he had brain damage and failed organs.

A "police state" and getting an ass wooping after attacking cops aren't mutually inclusive. In either the Philly case or in Haerbin people shouldn't feel so bad for the "victim". Had the Haerbin cops been sober, the kid would still be severely injured. Those cops probably knew who he was and that is why they did nothing in the first place, but he kept pushing and pushing.

There are six cops, the guy on his own repeatedly tries to punch them in the face and they just push him away and then suddenly they beat him to death? Why don't they just after the first assault tackle, handcuff and take him away? Unbelievable..

The alleged cops (goons drinking on the job) should be trial for manslaughters.

Well, that kid should have been charged with six counts of assaulting an officer (would get him a couple of years behind bars) if he had lived.

Umm, what's happened to China's best website ever - www.chinasmack.com ?

Has it been taken down?

Saw this exact same thing happen in Beijing in
August..a drunk arrogant kid starts shit with a group of 8 guys. His mother and cousin jump in to "stop" him. The kid takes a few blows and the mother ends up in the hospital for a month.
Couldn't believe 8 guys beating down the mother.
Chinese gang mentality..run up punch in the head and retreat.. 8 guys kickin one person in the head when they are down.

Makes Compton look like Disneyland.
