Seems like it’s that time of year. First, Void celebrated their one-year anniversary last month. Now Phreaktion, fronted by DJ Siesta, turns three. It’s just more proof that drum and bass is not only here, but here to stay. So this weekend, they’re giving you the presents by featuring Goldie and DJ Krust over two action-packed nights.
Goldie hits the decks on Friday, November 7th at Bonbon. This is his third time in Shanghai at the behest of Phreaktion, and it promises to be a spectacular show. The drum and bass pioneer, responsible for such classics as Timeless and the peerless record label Metalheadz, will bring along MC Stride for the evening. Expect something close to a riot.
Not to be outdone, DJ Krust heads underground at The Shelter on Saturday, November 8th. Krust is making his first visit to Shanghai, but his reputation as “one of the most cerebral yet eternally funky of all the great drum and bass producers” precedes him. He is the co-founder of the Full Cycle crew and has been in the drum and bass scene for over 15 years, putting out one quality track after another.
If you’re a drum and bass fan, it won’t get more insane than this weekend for a long time. Come on out, buy Siesta a beer for her (crew’s) birthday, and bask in the fact that you live in a city that can bring you this kind of music, month after month, for three years straight.
