Glove doesn't fit

sonics_payton_99_240.jpgGary Payton’s agent was reportedly in talks with the CBA’s Shanxi Zhongyu team to bring his retired client over to China, but talks broke down over the former NBA star’s salary. Apparently the team was offering $50,000/month, while Payton (a.k.a. the “Glove”) was looking for double that amount.

Payton is considered one of the best point guards ever, and won a league title in 2007 with the Miami Heat. He would have been the biggest name to ever come play in Asia, though what he’s doing isn’t without precedent. Players such as Lamond Murray, God Shammgod and Laron Profit all played in the CBA last season after failing to find employment in the NBA.
