Last weekend saw a bumper crop of top DJs hitting Shanghai. DJ Shadow, Above And Beyond, Goldie et al.
This weekend is similarly blessed with John Digweed at Sky (a soulless box of a club in the New Factories) and Officially Certified Number 1 DJ In The World Armin van Buuren at M2 (club at the top of Plaza 66 where patrons light imported cigarettes with 100RMB notes).
For those of us who foolishly spent all of their money last weekend but still like to dance, there's always Neon Nights at Mural- 100RMB gets you an open bar until 2am, and a pretty leftfield play list of Cosmic Disco and Electro Funk.
Rave safe kids. Rave safe.
N.B Shanghaiist actually spoke to Goldie at about 3am on Friday night, following the Phreaktion birthday party gig. The 'interview' went something like this:
Shanghaiist: So it's your fourth time in Shanghai- what are you going to do tomorrow?
Goldie: Not sure.
Shanghaiist: What's it like to be able to smoke when you're DJing?
Goldie: Great.
Shanghaiist: Is it weird watching Bond films now that you've been in one?
Goldie:
Shanghaiist: Ummm.
Thanks to DJ Siesta for letting us backstage, next time we'll work a bit more on our interview technique!
