James Pants, a multi-instrumentalist from Spokane, Washington, who was championed by indie hip hop guru Peanut Butter Wolf as Stones Throw Records' next big thing swings by Shanghai for the very first time, also marking Stones Throw Records' debut act in the Middle Kingdom.
Seems like Peanut Butter Wolf isn't the only one who thinks this way. Having won rave reviews from everywhere, Pants' music has been described as "a fresh viewpoint on new wave, post-punk, and soul" (Flavorpill) and "everything from electro to 80s soul, new wave and 60s psych, but all of them share the same lo-fi punk aesthetic and are adorned with Pants' unique quirky shouting and falsetto vocals" (Dazed & Confused).
So mark your schedule this Friday as James Pants rocks both t-shirt store, eno and our favorite underground hideout, The Shelter. The pre-show, marking the second time that eno is collaborating with a foreign musician in a live music event on its grounds, would be something to look out for as fans will not only have the chance to catch a live performance but also listen to what James Pants has to say about his music. What's more, free James Pants CDs and signed limited edition posters will be given away.
