Why on Earth would anyone want an Everton shirt?

"just yet another attack on the media's favourite punch-bag, Chinese football, because its the only thing they are allowed to slag off?"

Oooh, good point.

I wonder how much coverage Shenhua get in the local language press.

When I first arrived in Shanghai I was amazed at how much easier it is to buy an AC Milan or Everton shirt than a Shenhua one.

No grass roots support and then they wonder why the national team falters.

We were discussing this on your other post a bit.

Must say though, that's a great observation. The papers' attitudes to the city team is odd to say the least. Decent coverage in the way that teams get in other footy countries would send interest and attendance soaring up, which in turn would lift the standard at the club via confidence and revenue.

And they still can't fight like "honourable" MEN: One vs. one. Gotta have a gang to give one poor soul a beatdown.

No wonder Chinese men's "teams" all generally suck.
