Ray Harris serves up nu jazz, funk, soul, Latin, Afro Beat and electronica this Tue/Wed/Thur at Jz Club

Ray Harris "an exceptionally talented keyboard player who pushes Jazz into the electronic slip stream with an experimental fusion of jazz, funk and soul" (Will Page, Straight No Chaser) is performing at Jz Club, Shanghai this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.

After studying jazz and blues at the National Jazz Institute in Glasgow, Harris has performed extensively in the last 3-4 years as Ray Harris & The Fusion Experience with a band of professional sessions musicians who include John Paul Speirs on bass, Jamie Thomas McGory on drums, Signy Jakobsdottir on percussions, Euan Malloch on guitar and Marie Claire Lee on backing vocals.

Highlights include opening for the Godfather of Soul James Brown and the Average White Band in 2006, which he describes as a surreal experience.

The band is currently on a tour of SE Asia and was recently featured at the 10th Dji Sam Soe Jakarta International Jazz Festival in Jakarta, and the Penang Jazz Festival in Malaysia.
