I just post about this on my Blog and I was wondering why it took so long for the main media to post about this. You would think that after so many recalls in the last year that these companies would have gotten their act together. What's it going to take... I'm also sorry to read about the loss of Addie ....poor dog...

I have won a case in the People's Supreme Court and another one at the Beijing International Arbitration. Worry not, I know what I am talking about.

Is the pushing of responsibility and denial of payment really a stereotypical behavior for this country? I seem to remember it being a problem in basically every country out there.

That having been said, the rest of your comment is hopelessly naive. A humane attitude towards pets is extremely rare here and humans are definitely treated better than animals.

Also, have you ever tried bringing a case in China? Good luck even beginning to get your product liability suit off the ground, assuming you can even find a "high profile lawyer" to take your case.

Otherwise, sorry for Ryan's loss. I can't imagine how painful it would be to loose a pet, and then have to deal with the bullshit of promises that didn't mean anything.

Don't suppose that this feed is made under foreign labels in China? Or this is imitation dog food? China certainly has been taking it on the chin with its global melamine poisoning campaign.

The pushing of responsibility and denial of payment - classic, stereotypical, low-class behaviour in this country. Utterly boring & totally predicable.

Also boring & predictable that last but not least product liability claims against well connected Chinese companies will be dragged by local courts.

One thing to consider for anyone whose heart was broken is, that pet-dogs receive better treatment than many humans in this country.

If this had been my dog, I would retain a high profile lawyer and pursue a dual product liability/professional negligence case against the manufacturer and the distributor. The distributor stored the goods in a warehouse that apparently was not suitable for storage of dog food. Professional negligence (or simply good, old time-honoured incompetence).

The Australian manufacturer also has the duty to assure, that the distributor has an insurance covering such cases. Not done that? Professional negligence, apart from the obvious product liability issue at hand.
