I always wondered what happened to the Chiang Kai Shek...reduced to doing calligraphy on Shanghai streets...very sad.

after so many years here, its amazing how nothing has changed..wow :)

This is fascinating. One thing that I noticed was that a major detail was left unmentioned. The war.

The port shows goods coming in such as kerosene and medical supplies. At about this time, the industrial infrastructure of the Japanese colony of Formosa, recently lost by the Japanese, was being plundered to supply Chiang Kai Shek's war machine in China.

And so many other details make sense in the context of a civil war... but the makers of the video obviously did not want to go there. Was this video meant to attract Western tourists to Shanghai?
