Girl cries and whines, gets car from boyfriend

This video capturing some classic auto showroom drama was uploaded by an intrepid Youku user and has garnered over 436,000 views in less than a day. The young woman, on hearing that her boyfriend was not going to buy the car, flies into a mad rage, gets behind the steering wheel and attempts to drive off with the car, much to the horror of both boyfriend and salesperson. Worried that his girlfriend might do some real damage to the store, the exasperated boyfriend eventually surrenders and decides to take all the damage upon himself. He whips out his credit card and yells out to his girlfriend saying, "I'm buying it! I'm buying it!"

Cynical Youku users say this video was staged, but we aren't so sure. From the video, it appears to be a Buick showroom but we aren't sure exactly what make the car is. One thing we know though — someone needs to teach this guy about Pavlov's theory. We're already beginning to wonder what his girlfriend will whine for next!

UPDATE: According to Youku Buzz, this took place in a Buick 4S showroom in Shanghai and this was indeed a viral video for Buick produced by some Youku users in Shanghai. The Shanghai Morning Post has also reported on the video (in Chinese).

Take your pick:

a. The boyfriend is a total loser and the girlfriend is a serious bitch. They deserve each other.

b. The sales guy is working with the girlfriend so they both help each other out, and the girl is a bitch. The boyfriend is still a total loser.

c. The boyfriend is a total loser, the girlfriend is a serious bitch, AND the sales guy is sleeping with the girl.

d. This was staged by the sales guy so he can sell more cars.

And that's why all NORMAL showrooms DON'T leave the key in the ignition... ! ^o)

No, seriously, what the hell ! Since when can you start a showroom car ?? VERY suspicious.

Having seen similar temper-tantrums by Chinese women, I'd be willing to believe it.

In Shanghai it's almost believable. How good most this girl be in bed for him to put up with this kind of stuff I wonder?

She doesn't *have* to be good in bed. He wouldn't know any better anyway...

No, my friends...this is the ad campaign of the week.

"From the video, it appears to be a Buick showroom but we aren't sure exactly what make the car is."

Yes, from the giant Buick logo in the background it certainly does appear to be a Buick showroom, which means there's a very good chance that the car is a Buick. Specifically, it's a Buick Regal, which goes for close to RMB200000, so this guy's credit card apparently has a much higher limit than mine.

Come on, it doesn't take an expert to tell this is not real! The video quality is too good for a mobile phone and the sound quality, of the "boyfriend" is way too clear against all the other noises. Definitely a studio recording.
Also, you don't just check out a car, then just go swipe your card, bought. Doesn't work that way.

Actually, you can do just that if you have the credit limit, and the payoff period is much longer. A great way to build up frequent flyer miles!

The boyfriend is a loser. Better to dump the bitch.

I never get tired of adults behaving like little children.

Oh, one more element :

Remember the :

"_CHEVROLET CAPTIVA_ woman owner gets pissed her car is towed, and drives off with it on the towing truck."

Now we've got _BUICK SHOWROOM_ drama...

See a link there ? Looks like GM "guerilla marketing" is hard at work...

Oh, and about the credit card limit... Only a Platinum Visa Infinite or American Express Black card can have such a high limit. So, don't count on it.

Maybe it's a debit card? I know people normally buy things with a man-purse full of cash, but...

I would hire another agency that wouldn't imply that my customers are materialistic and exploitative.

It's very obvious this is a sad and pathetic viral marketing campaign, trying to cynically exploit some of the more backward aspects of Chinese dating culture. It's not big and its not clever.

Would of been much cheaper to change girlfriend!

I really don't understand how people can view these videos and not see that they're staged.

As stated above, you can't drive a car from the showroom. People are so gullible.

But they nailed Shanghainese girls...

The bigger question is, if this is staged, what exactly does the ad agency think it is doing? Is this supposed to make men or women want to buy the car? As far as I can see it just ties negative emotions to the brand.

shanghaiLife- To any normal person with integrity this scene would draw negative emotions, but sadly this scene features the kind of people the average young Shanghainese would aspire to be.
