You might have missed it during your week-long gorge on Chinese food (like us), but Baskin-Robbins opened up shop in Shanghai over the Spring Festival holiday. According to their press release, the ice cream purveyor now has two locations in the city and plans to open a third one in February. While the press release frustratingly didn’t tell us where the new shops were, we were able to find them after a bit of investigative snooping (okay, a lucky taxi ride just happened to drive us by one).
Changning District Shop: 900 Tian Shan Road, close to the Loushanguang Subway station
Hongqiao Shop: 1155 Wu Zhong Road, on the first floor of the Yashidu Hotel.
Jing’an Shop: 1 Wan Hang Du Road, near Jing’an Temple.
Scoops are currently priced at 16 yuan (kid scoop), 25 yuan (single scoop), 28 (small double), and 42 (big double). There are also options for various sundaes and Cappuccino Blasts.
The size of the scoops are pretty decent, and the Jing’an one at least had super friendly service. The girl behind the counter said the stores aren’t “officially open” yet, though they were obviously open enough to serve people. Restaurant industry speak is weird.
