What do you mean, "some KDS forum"? KDS is the online gathering point for most of Shanghai (the Shanghainese-speaking ones + some others, but no expats yet).

So what is the level of legitimacy of that message? Considering, I saw reports on Monday night and Tuesday call day) of the fire people are just over zealous.

Actually it's been reported and CCTV staff took responsibility for setting off fire crackers when there was rule that say it shouldn't. In China, News take longer to get on air, that does not mean they don't report it. BBC screwed up badly when they were quick to jump on Chinese TV for not reporting the torch disturbances in Europe, but CCTV in fact did.

taihanasie: Not so strange considering this: most Beijingers know that hundreds died at the Tian'anmen massacre but the state media still universally declare that the indicent was solved "without a shot fired." That CCTV building was going to be the location for a 300-room Mandarin Oriental hotel above the tv production studios. Would have been a sweet arrangement for the CCTV directors who are notorious for accepting sexual bribes from young wannabes.

How strange! Everyone in Beijing can see it. By now, those who live in the neighbourhood have already told everyone they know and those people are in the process of telling everyone else. So much for the new media-saavy angle of the Propaganda Department. Aren't they supposed to be controlling the direction of news now instead of suppressing it? They censor Netease but leave the censorship notice from kds alone...that is just weird censorship.
