You’ve seen her byline all over the site for the past several weeks, and now we’re ready to make it official: We are happy to announce that Elaine Chow is the new Editor of Shanghaiist.
Elaine replaces the beloved Kenneth Tan, who did an amazing job as editor since the summer of 2007. Thankfully, Kenneth is not totally leaving us. He’ll still contribute occasionally and is assuming the "Editor at Large" role (and, yes, we are still trying to figure out what that title means).
Elaine is also a contributing editor at Gizmodo (perhaps you’ve heard of it?). She has a journalism degree from NYU and she went to high school in Shanghai. She has excellent taste in music and beer and dominates in trivia. Get to know her.

This week in Shanghaiist

Congrats on a job well done kenneth!
I really like your posts Elaine! Good job so far.
Byebye Ken, but please keep posting good gossip! :)
Thanks for all the fish!
Welcome to the fold, Elaine! I notice you keep picking my photos @_@.
You take great photos! Keep contributing! Shanghaiist
And thanks to the rest of you as well!
Thanks! Unfortunately I've just returned to Los Angeles after spending CNY there with family. No more Shanghai photos for a while (so maybe some for Laist!).
Best of luck to Mr. Tan. Any title appended with "-at-large" sounds like all the perks and none of the responsibilities, which is GREAT if you ask me. ;)
Well done for a great spell as editor Kenneth, and good luck to Elaine!
