Today we watched as the first half of the Waibaidu Bridge （外白渡桥）, or Garden Bridge, was returned to its original position on the north part of The Bund.
Last year this 102-year old construction was cut in half and removed in order to be restored. This morning it was transported back from its dock on the HuangPu river.
Once the bridge had been positioned in the right place, the tugboats waited until low tide, and when the water sank the bridge smoothly landed on its old foundations.
Tomorrow the second half of the bridge will be put in place – sometime around 11 PM, when the tide is right.
