Shanghai street fashion: these boots are made for sloshing

Rain boots Shanghai street fashion ChinaTravel.net.JPG Nancy Sinatra had no idea.....her boots may have been made for walking, but with the rains never ceasing in Shanghai, boots made for walking just ain't cutting it. We need boots made for sloshing...rubber rain boots. Sleek and sexy ones. Ones that you can wear for both home and office. Well, depending on your office dress codes.

So on the weekend, we made it our mission to find the perfect pair of rain boots. Not just ordinary black rubbers for mud puddles and feeding the farm animals. No. we were looking for something a bit more unusual.

And Shanghai shopping did not let us down. A fabulous shop called SALT on the corner of Yongjia Lu and Shaanxi Lu is actually a gift shop with lots of cool knickknacks, but - this time - we were interested in their boots. And what an amazing selection! SALT had about 40 different types of funky rain boots: some with platform heels, some with buckles, flower print, high fashion, functional - all completely delightful and in all sizes for women up to size 41.

Right now everything is half price, so we picked up a pair of boots for 150 RMB - one that had been seen in San Francisco for $60 US. The woman who runs the shop has it as a labor of love, but she will also order in specific boots for you.

Well, if you are below size 41, you could wear them. They are sexy for both sexes. Although, you have to be a little brave to wear them as a dude. But I say, do it if it makes you happy..
