Despite ballooning obesity rates in this country, many in the West still seek ancient Chinese secrets to achieve a healthier lifestyle... and in this one case, it seems to have worked.
Tianjin’s Aimin Fat Reduction Hospital helped Alonzo Bland from Green Bay, Wisc. drop from 646lbs to 200lbs last year. Through the traditional means of diet and exercise, coupled with the Chinese practices of acupuncture and ‘cupping’, Alonzo accomplished this amazing feat of weight loss without using gastric bypass surgery.
After Alonzo’s tremendous success, Aimin Hospital is now inviting obese American kids to an 8-week long summer fat camp. The “Fitness and Culture Experience for Teens” is an opportunity for 40 American teens and 10 of their Chinese peers to lose weight, learn about new cultures and forge new friendships.
PR Newswire quotes:
"We are passionate about the Fitness and Culture Experience being a catalyst in changing the lives of these young people," said Ruth Lycke, CEO, CCGH. "This group will reshape their bodies and expand their awareness of the world and its people in a unique way. We are thrilled to be promoting healthy self-acceptance and self-esteem through a program in which they're assured success."
Applaud these plucky teens and their quest for a shrinking waistline. Let's just hope they don't discover lamb kebabs, Pocky, and Hi-Chew candy.
