Cathay Pacific has given an apology and an upgrade to “Airport Auntie,” the hysterical older Chinese woman who had a complete breakdown in the Hong Kong International Airport after she missed her flight.
Apparently it was a Cathay employee who had shot the video and uploaded it to Youtube, causing the woman “untold embarrassment,” according to the WSJ China Blog. The employee was “disciplined and cautioned against repeating such behavior.”
We hope the discipline wasn't too harsh - after all, it was probably the safest way the lady could have learned not to throw a tantrum around airport officials. The last time we heard of someone going crazy at an airport, it was in Phoenix. The woman was handcuffed, taken to a holding room and ended up mysteriously dying there.

Well, all's well that ends well, I guess.
But the Youtube comments were truly depressing- seriously, just because she's not from HK doesn't make it OK to rip her a new one online for expressing frustration at a screw-up.
We've seen some upset people in airports. Last year, after the spring festival transportation mess, we watched a woman go berserk on an airline employee in the Guangzhou airport, punching and kicking and everything. There were a number of cellphone cameras out - I wouldn't be surprised to find it on youtube somewhere.
What a shame. I would have given the employee a raise instead.
People should be held accountable for their own actions, even when it implies public derision. Shame on Cathay Pacific.
I agree. It wasn't the employee that caused her "untold embarrassment," it was her own behavior.
